Andy Whelan cognitive hypnotherapist

Andy Whelan has had an exceptional career in the armed forces and emergency services. While this has been rewarding, it has presented challenges that Andy recognises, through his own personal experiences, have an impact on the mental health of men and women in the same line of work.

To support his colleagues, and help encourage a positive attitude toward mental health, Andy has begun training as a cognitive hypnotherapist so he can help with PTSD trauma experienced by emergency and armed services personnel.

STORM NINE was asked to create a strong but sensitive brand for Andy cognitive therapy business. Andy had no preconceived ideas about how his brand should look but was keen to include a symbol of resilience and strength that was also welcoming.

“We understood the need to be sympathetic to the subject matter,” said Andy Stott, at Storm Nine.

“Speaking to Andy it was clear that his decision to change direction into this line of work was of personal importance to him and went way beyond just trying a new career.

“Andy Whelan Cognitive Therapy’ is born from personal experience and Andy’s consistent selfless attitude to helping others, something he has done throughout his entire career.” Storm Nine provided four logos for Andrew to choose from.

The script of his name gives a welcoming approach with the more structured font of his service highlights the professionalism clients can expect.

The inclusion of the Snowdrop has a deeper meaning. They are symbol of resilience appearing at the end of winter when snow is often still on the ground. They are often the first sign of Spring and encourage hope that warmer weather is on its way.

But Snowdrops are also a symbol of the RAF Police, the branch that Andy worked in while in the armed forces. He also later told us that Snowdrops were growing in the university grounds when he graduated from his cognitive hypnotherapist training.

“Snowdrop flourish under extreme circumstances and I want my clients to do just that,” said Andy.

“I was given four options and we chose one right away. Not only is the brand a nod to my former life but it will hopefully show that people can overcome the toughest of challenges, even if they need a little help to do so.

“Storm Nine delivered exactly what I wanted. The whole team are so professional and absolutely brilliant at what they do. I’d recommend them to anyone.”
